A major change in defense strategy, The United States is considering deploying hypersonic missiles against Iran.

The United States has, for the first time, begun considering the deployment of hypersonic missiles against Iran, raising concerns of escalating tensions in the Middle East.

According to U.S. media reports, the United States Central Command has requested the deployment of the advanced “Dark Eagle” hypersonic missile system to the region. The purpose of this move is reportedly to target missile launchers located deep inside Iran.

Reports indicate that the Dark Eagle program has not yet been declared fully operational and has faced delays. However, given the current situation, its active deployment is now being seriously considered. This would mark the first time the United States uses a hypersonic weapon of this kind in the field, representing a significant shift in defense strategy.

Defense experts say the primary reason behind this move is Iran’s relocation of its missile launchers to locations beyond the reach of conventional precision-strike missiles. Iranian missiles are capable of hitting targets over 300 miles away, which is affecting the balance of power in the region.

The Dark Eagle hypersonic missile is believed to have a range of over 1,725 miles and can travel at speeds exceeding five times the speed of sound. Additionally, it has the ability to change its trajectory, making it extremely difficult for modern defense systems to intercept.

According to the report, Russia and China have already introduced similar hypersonic technologies, prompting the United States to strengthen its position in this field. However, CENTCOM has declined to comment officially on the matter, and the request has not yet been made public.

The cost of a single Dark Eagle missile is estimated at around $15 million, while a complete battery system is said to cost up to $2.7 billion. Experts warn that if implemented, this move could have far-reaching implications for regional security and the global defense balance.
