Iran has taken a firm stance against the U.S. role in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any form of American intervention will be considered a violation of the ceasefire. Head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee, Ebrahim Azizi, issued a clear statement saying that unilateral actions in the region will not be accepted and that Iran will defend its sovereignty and regional interests at all costs.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, he said that the narrative presented by the United States is baseless and rooted in accusations, which Iran completely rejects. He added that sensitive and critical maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf cannot be governed by the statements or claims of any single country, and must instead be handled in accordance with international law and regional realities.
The Iranian leader also criticized recent remarks by Donald Trump, calling them unrealistic and provocative, and warning that they could further escalate tensions in the region. He emphasized that the Persian Gulf is not a stage for rhetoric, but a highly sensitive region where any misstep could have serious consequences.
This statement comes at a time when the United States has announced a plan to restore the movement of commercial ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. According to U.S. officials, the initiative aims to provide safe passage to vessels from neutral countries; however, Iran views it as a potential interference against its interests.
Experts note that the Strait of Hormuz is a critically important route for global trade, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil and commercial goods is transported. Any escalation in tensions in this area could have serious implications not only for the region but also for the global economy.
