In Rawalpindi, an exchange of fire between police and suspects resulted in the killing of two dangerous criminals. According to a police spokesperson, the deceased were wanted in cases of murder and attempted murder. The incident occurred during an operation to recover a stolen car taken from a civilian.
The police spokesperson said the incident took place in the outskirts of the Saddar area when police signaled a suspicious vehicle to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects opened fire on the police party, prompting a retaliatory response from law enforcement. As a result, both suspects were killed on the spot.
Police stated that the deceased were involved in serious crimes and had cases registered against them for murder and attempted murder. According to officials, the suspects had killed a security guard about four months ago and had since been on the run from law enforcement agencies.
Following the incident, the area was cordoned off and a search operation was launched, while the bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination. Police said efforts are underway to trace the accomplices of the deceased, and raids are being conducted at various locations to arrest any fleeing suspects.
The police spokesperson added that security in the area has been further tightened to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
