In Karachi’s New Karachi Industrial Area, police conducted an intelligence-based operation and arrested four robbers, including a woman, after an encounter. Among them, two suspects were injured.
According to police officials, the operation was carried out on information about the presence of a criminal gang. During the raid, the suspects opened fire on police and attempted to escape, but were overpowered through timely retaliatory action.
Police said pistols, three mobile phones, Rs 60,000 in cash, and two motorcycles were recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects. Initial investigations revealed that the group was involved in organized street crimes across the city.
Authorities further stated that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to a major robbery. According to their statement, they had looted Rs 7.5 million from a petrol pump owner last month and also injured him when he resisted.
Police officials added that the inclusion of a woman in the gang indicates that criminal networks are systematically involving different individuals for illegal activities.
The injured suspects were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while further interrogation of the arrested individuals is ongoing. Police also noted that five robbers had previously been killed in an operation in the same area.
