The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly taken notice of several conduct violations in the Indian Premier League (IPL), including concerns described in media reports as “girlfriend culture” and the movement of unauthorised individuals.
According to Indian media, multiple breaches of the IPL code of conduct were identified, prompting the board to issue strict instructions to all franchises.
An eight-page directive has been circulated to IPL teams, warning that future violations will not be tolerated. The order is to be implemented immediately, with detailed protocols outlined for players and team staff.
The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit is said to have flagged several infractions, including breaches of franchise PMOA (Player and Match Official Area) guidelines.
As part of the new instructions, the board has prohibited the entry of unrelated persons into team hotels. It also stated that any meetings with visitors must be conducted only after informing the team manager. Guests and visitors will be restricted to designated areas within the hotel, and no one will be allowed to access players’ rooms.
The order further states that prior notification must be given to security and the team manager before any player leaves the hotel premises. Additionally, team officials or their representatives are not permitted to interact with players in the dugout area.
The guidelines also reinforce restrictions on unauthorised movement within team environments and include a ban on vaping.
Overall, the BCCI has emphasized stricter enforcement of protocols to maintain discipline and security standards throughout the IPL.
