PDMA Issues Alert for Thunderstorms and Rain Across Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of dust storms, thunderstorms, and rainfall across several parts of Punjab, with unsettled weather expected from Sunday evening.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, widespread rain is likely in multiple districts of the province between May 10 and May 12.

The forecast indicates chances of rainfall in areas including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Gujranwala. Other districts such as Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Khushab, and Mandi Bahauddin are also expected to receive showers.

Additional rainfall has been predicted for Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Dera Ghazi Khan, along with nearby regions.

Authorities have placed commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province on high alert on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to ensure swift response in case of any emergency situation.

The PDMA has advised citizens to take precautionary measures during adverse weather conditions and to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
