Dhaka: Pakistan cricket team batsman Salman Ali Agha has stated that if Bangladesh sets a target of 260 runs in 70 overs on the final day of the Test match, his team will definitely push for victory.
By the end of the fourth day’s play in the first Test against Pakistan on Monday, Bangladesh had scored 152 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their second innings, giving them an overall lead of 179 runs over Pakistan.
Speaking at a press conference at the conclusion of the fourth day’s play in Dhaka, Salman Ali Agha said, “At this point, you cannot say who has the advantage in this Test. The last day of the match will be very interesting. We will try to get them out as soon as possible. That will be our strategy.”
Salman Ali Agha stated that if Bangladesh shows bravery and gives a target of 260 runs in 70 overs, then Pakistan will definitely go for the win. However, he added that he does not think Bangladesh will do that.
He said, “I personally would like them to give us a target of 260 in 60 to 70 overs, but that does not seem to be the case. On the fifth day, if we get a target of 300 in 30 to 40 overs, it becomes difficult.”
Salman Ali Agha said that Pakistan played very well on the second day of the Test. He noted that they got out early but batted well afterward. He admitted that Pakistan was not ahead on the first day, while the third day was mixed in terms of performance.
He emphasized that when playing Test matches, winning is the priority. “We would like to bowl out Bangladesh as soon as possible. Only they can tell us what they are thinking.”
Salman Ali Agha said that with the arrival of the World Test Championship, teams now go out to win matches, and pitches are prepared in such a way that results are achieved. “If we go back 10 or 15 years, there were pitches like this, and Tests would be drawn.”
