Previous Administration Did Not Handle T20 World Cup Issue Properly: Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief

Dhaka: Tamim Iqbal, the head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s ad hoc committee, has stated that the manner in which the previous board administration dealt with the T20 World Cup matter was incorrect.

In an interview with an Indian media outlet, Tamim Iqbal said that when the T20 World Cup issue arose, he was the first person to speak out. He noted that the way the previous BCB administration handled the situation was not right. He added that the ICC showed leniency and that there was a way to find a solution. “We should have found a solution,” he said.

The head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board stated, “We let the World Cup go without dialogue. The players of this World Cup squad may not get the chance to play the World Cup again. I did not like all this.”

He said that he has played a lot of cricket with Indian Board President Mithun Minhas. He clarified that there is no problem between the Indian Board and the BCB now, and there is no security issue either. “There has never been a threat to the Indian team. Whenever the Indian team comes, the stadiums are packed. The Bangladesh-India series will be very good.”

Tamim Iqbal refrained from commenting on the question of Pakistan boycotting the World Cup as a show of solidarity. He said, “I was not part of this group, so I cannot comment. But whatever happened, we wasted the opportunity to play in the World Cup.”
