NEW YORK : Fans of the Fast & Furious franchise are set for more high-speed action as actor Vin Diesel has confirmed that a television series based on the popular films is officially in development.
Diesel announced the project during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in New York alongside TV host Jimmy Fallon. The new series is being developed by a streaming platform.
Speaking at the event, Diesel said fans had wanted the franchise to expand into television for years and promised the new project would protect the legacy and “family” spirit of the films.
While Diesel initially mentioned four shows from the Fast & Furious universe, reports later clarified that only one series is currently in serious development, with others at earlier stages.
Plot details remain secret, and it is still unclear whether Diesel will reprise his iconic role as Dominic Toretto. However, he is attached as an executive producer.
The franchise, which began in 2001, has earned more than $7 billion worldwide and remains one of the highest-grossing film series in history. The final film, ‘Fast Forever’, is scheduled for release in 2028.
