Adobe Premiere’s Android version is expected to feature exclusive YouTube Shorts templates and effects
Adobe’s professional video editing app is finally heading to Android after nearly a year of waiting. Google confirmed during its Android 17 announcement that Adobe Premiere will arrive “soon,” with earlier press materials suggesting a summer 2026 launch.
Whereas Adobe had been vague about its plans for the Premiere launch on Android, limiting itself to saying that the software was “in development,” Google’s confirmation—while careful with the use of “soon”—is the first time there has been any real indication about a timeline for an Android version.
The Android version will feature exclusive YouTube Shorts templates and effects, which makes the app a direct competitor to mobile video editing tools while capitalizing on creator demand for seamless short-form video production.
“With Premiere, you’ll get access to exclusive templates and effects to create and post YouTube Shorts from the app,” Google wrote in its announcement.
The Android version has been anticipated for more than a year. With the discontinuation of Premiere Rush—a more accessible alternative to Premiere that was designed for mobile users—there has been an evident need to fill the void left in the market.
Adobe Premiere holds a perfect score of 4.8 stars on the iOS platform and is labeled as an “AI video editor,” powered by generative AI technology. The Android version will have the same features, but the YouTube Shorts integration is likely the result of a special arrangement between Google and Adobe.
