Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi meets U.S. Deputy Secretary of State; both sides agree to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur, during which detailed discussions were held on bilateral relations, security cooperation, and the situation in the Middle East.

Acting U.S. Ambassador Natalie Baker, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the Federal Interior Secretary, and other senior officials also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, both sides discussed possibilities for enhancing cooperation in the fields of security, counterterrorism, and counternarcotics. According to officials, both countries also agreed to continue joint efforts for peace and stability in the region.

On the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said that Pakistan-U.S. relations have become stronger during the tenure of U.S. President Donald Trump, and mutual trust and bilateral cooperation between the two countries have increased.

The Interior Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing foolproof security to American companies working on the Reko Diq project. Mohsin Naqvi also expressed the desire for the early launch of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States, saying that such a step would further strengthen people-to-people and trade ties between the two countries.

Referring to the current situation in the Middle East, Mohsin Naqvi expressed hope that peaceful and lasting solutions to regional conflicts would be found in order to ensure global peace and stability.

Meanwhile, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Paul Kapur appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region. He also expressed commitment to enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
