Hania Mimics Sajal – Shouldn’t the Culture of Berating Come to an End?

An old video featuring Hania Aamir and Momin Ali Munshi has resurfaced on social media. In the clip, Hania can be seen imitating renowned Pakistani star Sajal Aly. Although Momin appeared absolutely thrilled to witness such an accurate imitation, the jab at Sajal may have been somewhat insensitive.

Hania looks fairly young in the video, which is understandable given how old the footage is. The actress, with her ever-bubbly demeanor, attempts to copy the nature and speaking style of Sajal, stating:

“Dekhein mera manna tou hai ke talent hona chahiye bande mein. Agar app mujhse poochein personally, tou mein kahun gi ke agar acting nahi aati hai tou matlab kya ho sakta hai? Matlab aana zaroori hai.”

(Look, I believe that a person should have talent. If you ask me personally, I would say that if someone does not know how to act, then what could possibly be the point? It is definitely necessary to know how to act properly.)

Soon after, Hania begins singing one of Sajal Aly’s hit OST numbers, ‘Rangreza’, in Sajal’s voice. While her imitation skills were deeply appreciated by Momin, who is a journalist and runs a certain entertainment platform, the mimicry may have been a bit careless and unserious in tone.

Although Hania certainly did not attempt to evoke any kind of negativity, the decision to mimic Sajal came across as somewhat naive and insensitive.

There is a strong belief that if there is no unity among members of the same fraternity, the environment becomes quite toxic. The culture of celebrities berating their colleagues during interview sessions should come to an end. There is absolutely no need to ridicule another member of the same industry. Furthermore, if any misunderstanding has taken place between certain people for any reason whatsoever, there is no need to discuss it in public.
