Hot Weather to Persist in Karachi, Temperatures Expected to Remain Below 40°C

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast continued hot and humid conditions in Karachi, although maximum temperatures are expected to remain below 40°C in the coming days.

According to the weather advisory, the city is likely to experience hot and humid conditions, with temperatures ranging between 37–39°C on Tuesday. Similar weather patterns are expected to continue over the following days, with highs gradually ranging between 35°C and 38°C.

The PMD has also indicated that hot to very hot and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of Sindh during this period.

In response to the ongoing heat conditions, K-Electric has announced that no load-shedding will be carried out in areas where the “feels-like” temperature reaches 45°C. The utility also stated that maintenance shutdowns have been temporarily suspended due to the heatwave.

Officials further pointed out that illegal electricity connections are contributing to system overloads, resulting in localised faults and occasional disruptions. Residents have been urged to cooperate with authorities to help address these issues.

A day earlier, Karachi experienced a significant temperature rise, recording one of its highest levels in several years. However, due to relatively low humidity, the “feels-like” temperature remained comparatively lower.

Meteorological officials expect a gradual decline in temperatures as dry winds subside and weather conditions begin to ease over the week.

Meanwhile, disaster management authorities have issued precautionary alerts and placed hospitals on standby as extreme summer conditions continue across parts of the country.
