Pakistan has strongly rejected a report by the US broadcaster CBS News claiming that Iranian aircraft were present in Pakistan. The Foreign Office described the report as misleading, baseless, and sensational, stating that such narratives could harm efforts for peace and stability in the region.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan has always played a neutral and responsible facilitative role in promoting de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomatic engagement in the region.
The statement said that certain circles are spreading speculation-based news contrary to facts, which is unnecessarily complicating the situation.
The Foreign Office clarified that during initial diplomatic contacts between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, some aircraft from both countries had arrived in Pakistan to facilitate the movement of diplomatic staff, security teams, and administrative personnel involved in the negotiation process. It stressed that linking the presence of these aircraft with any military or emergency activity is incorrect.
The spokesperson also confirmed that the recent visit of Iran’s Foreign Minister to Islamabad was facilitated under the same administrative and logistical arrangements, as part of normal diplomatic procedures.
It further stated that the aircraft in question had arrived in Pakistan during a ceasefire period and had no connection to any military activity or emergency situation.
The spokesperson emphasized that such claims are inconsistent with facts and are aimed at creating misunderstandings. Pakistan, it added, has always played a neutral, constructive, and responsible facilitation role and will continue to support sincere efforts for peace, stability, and de-escalation in the region and the world.
