Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Gilgit-Baltistan on a one-day visit, where he was warmly received by Governor Syed Mehdi Shah and Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Yaar Muhammad.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by an important federal delegation comprising Federal Ministers and senior government officials, including Ahsan Iqbal, Sardar Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Attaullah Tarar, Engineer Amir Muqam, Abdul Aleem Khan, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, and Special Assistant Talha Burki.
During the visit, the Prime Minister held separate meetings with Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah and Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Yaar Muhammad, during which detailed discussions were held on ongoing development projects, law and order, and administrative affairs.
According to sources, the Prime Minister was briefed on the progress of ongoing projects in Gilgit-Baltistan, including infrastructure, energy, and social development initiatives. He directed authorities to further accelerate development work and improve public services.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several major projects. These include a renewable energy (solar power) project, a Safe City project, a laptop scheme, youth business and agriculture loan schemes, and the foundation of four Danish schools.
These initiatives are being described as significant for providing education, employment, and modern facilities in the region. According to government sources, the aim of these projects is to create economic opportunities for youth and accelerate regional development. The visit is being seen as an important step toward improving governance, development, and stability in the region.
