A member of the Punjab Assembly from Toba Tek Singh, Ayub Gadhi, was seriously injured after unidentified armed men opened fire on him. Four of his companions were killed on the spot in the attack.
The incident took place at the MPA’s dera (residence/camp) in the Rajana area, where armed assailants suddenly launched an attack and began firing, spreading panic across the locality.
According to police sources, security personnel reached the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident and cordoned off the area, starting evidence collection. Initial investigations suggest that the attackers were heavily armed and carried out the assault in a planned manner. The attackers managed to flee the scene after the incident, while police have launched an investigation from multiple angles.
Police officials confirmed that four people were killed in the firing, identified as Nadeem, Khaliq Dad Baloch, Zia, and Haq Nawaz. Their bodies have been shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
Punjab Inspector General (IG) Abdul Karim took notice of the incident and sought an immediate report from the RPO Faisalabad, directing authorities to arrest those involved as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, hospital sources said that MPA Ayub Gadhi’s condition is critical and he has been placed in the intensive care unit, where a medical team is continuously monitoring his health.
Security has been further tightened in the area following the incident.
